Eyes

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.”  Revelation 4:6b-8

So many eyes--eyes all around.

Eyes represent vigilance, and watching. Eyes are drawn to look and focus. Eyes show perception, a sign of wisdom.

And all, all of their eyes are focused on one thing: God. Day and night they cry out, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come."

All of their power, all of their wisdom, all of their focus is on the throne with the unimaginable God the Father, God the Son, and the sevenfold Holy Spirit.

What catches our eyes? Those with greater perception, with untainted eyes, are single-focused. We are invited to join, for Jesus has made the way for us, bringing us before Abba, Father. With these beings, these beings with all their glory, we can join--because the One they concentrate on, the one with greater glory, has invited us. Because he is supremely worthy.

Where are your eyes today? How does Jesus see whatever is distracting you?

What do you find supremely beautiful about our Triune God? Tell him.
