Himself
Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we die with him, we will also live with him.
If we endure, we will reign with him.
If we disown him, he will disown us.
If we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
2 Tim. 2:11-13
If we die with himā¦It is a fact. We ALREADY HAVE DIED. In Him. On the cross. Done. Christ died in our place. Through faith, we are united with him in his death. Because of Christās suffering, we have his resurrection life! (Rom. 6). We live!
If we endure hardshipā¦.For our light and momentary strugglesāalthough they often donāt seem light or momentary!āwill result in a crown (Revelation 2 and 3, 2 Cor. 4:17). Through his weakness, his death, we reign.
If we are unfaithfulā¦. I am so unfaithful so many times. I wander. I look to other thingsāmy jobs, what I do, other peopleāto satisfy me, to save me, to be what only Christ should be for me. I am sorry, Lord. But instead of zapping me with the lightning that I deserve (āAlright, Iāve had itāyouāve done that one too many times!ā), I am covered by grace. I am covered by the blood of the Lamb. I am in Him. He is my life. He is my covering. He is my shield. He is my everything. I am seen by God through the blood of Christ. And He will not disown himself.
And he will not disown himselfā¦.His promises are based on His character. He is not a God who changes his mind, who is likely to throw a lightning bolt at a momentās impulse. He is āThe LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunishedā (Ex. 34:6-7).
The Spirit has been showing me how my heart has wandered. Sometimes it is for sin. Sometimes it is distracted. Sometimes I just don't feel connected. But He has been reminding me of the finished work of Christ and the grace of God. How great a God we serve!
He has bought me. I am in Him. And He is faithful. Oh praise the one who paid my debt, who raised this life up from the dead!!!
