High and Low

Walk in his shoes. Walk in her shoes.
There is a closeness and a camaraderie among people who have been there. They get it a bit more.  See aspects of heart hidden, and masked soul.

"Whoever says he abides in him [Jesus] ought to walk in the same way in which he walked" (1 Jn. 2:6).

What goes up, must come down….
True in the sense of pride comes before a fall.
High, low. Low, high.
The High and Lofty one dwells with the contrite in Spirit (Isa. 57:15).
Where do we find God?
It is not where we expect.
Look—with the contrite and broken in heart.
Look—in a manger.
Look—hidden for thirty years in a carpenter shop.
Look—washing feet.
Look—lifting a sinful woman’s head from the dust.

Jesus, I want to know you more!
"Then come, walk with me. How can you know me, my nature, if you do not serve? I am a servant; I am meek and lowly. Come, learn from me. Take my yolk. Walk so closely with me, you in my shoes." (Mat. 11:28-29).

There are certain things about knowing Jesus that you just can’t really understand or experience until you begin to serve. Think about that, if our Savior identified himself as a servant, The Suffering Servant, and we are to be like Christ and follow Christ, how can we really begin to understand the nature of Christ and who he is without serving? If HE, The Servant, is our life (Col. 3:4), how can his life be expressed in us without serving? How can we have intimacy with him if we deny that part of his heart?

As we walk beside him, our errant and wandering feet find the good path, yoked to him.
Our shoulders no longer bow and chaff under the bowing of service, for he bears the weight of rejection, humility, death of self, yoked to him.
His strength, his belovedness, given to us, yoked to him.
Where Jesus is, I will be, be it manger or towel-clad feetwashing or seated in the heavenly places (Eph. 2:6), yoked to him.
Where Jesus goes, I go, whether to the court of Pilate in humiliation, the lepers, or the honored guest at Simon the Pharisees dining in luxury, yoked to him.
Where Jesus bends, I bend, yoked to him.
Who Jesus loves, I love, yoked to him.
My Jesus, yoked to thee.
