Finding Faith

“Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:8

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

“so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7

Faith--so precious that is what the Lord looks for. It is not to the expensive gifts. The most tithes. Silver and gold have I none, Lord.

When sapped, and nothing more to give--what can I bring? The faith that comes with empty hands and knows with a deep joy that the Lord will receive. The faith that says I am in Christ and so all is mine and will be mine, all is well. The faith that says Christ is my all, and my all before God.

This, this is what he looks for. This is what he finds precious. The treasure he himself is forging in hearts--hearts of the weak, the once-ran-away, the Nigerian Christians who have lost everything, the Pakistani believer disowned by his family and running for his life, those who are lights still living in darkness and wondering how to keep feet from falling off the precipice, those who are waiting when the years cry to give up.

Our faith, though, does not rest on our wandering hearts--but on our Lord Jesus who is faithful, faith-filled, and the author and perfector of our faith (Heb. 12:1). He himself is faithful, and he will do it, producing faith in our body, mind, soul, heart (1 Thess. 5:23-24). Our faith is a clinging to him, and him alone. And as we drink from him, he finds faith.
