Asking

….many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house.
John 11:19-20

Why did Mary stay? Was she too grief stricken? Did she want to be alone with Jesus instead of with her sister? Was she disappointed, hurt, felt betrayed that Jesus had not come to them?
Why do you think she might have stayed?

[Martha] went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is asking for you.”
John 11:28

Jesus asked for her. Called for her. “Mary.” In her grief, he is asking for her. He sought her out. He came to her. He knew her name. He was not there to ask something of her, but to comfort her.
In your grief, whatever that may be, no matter how small or large, Jesus is asking for you.
Asking for you. Pause, and let the Spirit give you his voice.

[Mary] rose quickly and went to him.
John 11:29

Let us go to Jesus. He is asking for you.
