Tamed

The wildfire rages--whatever it is, we cannot get it under our control. Your wildfire? Perhaps fear, thoughts, pride. . . . Take heart. The Lord created you; he knows all what seems to rage like wildfire. He manages us and all our unruliness. Our fears, our time, our needs, our thoughts, the things we are still working to bring under control, he can tame for he knows our frame. In whatever area the fire seems to burn, he will give us his own desires:

“...those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their mind set on what the Spirit desires” (Rom. 8:5b, NIV).

Think of it! What would the all holy God desire in this wildfire? That he will give you. He has promised to complete what he has begun in you in body, mind, and spirit (Phil. 1:6; 1 Thess. 5:23-24).

Father, Abba, you know what you desire for _______, this fire in my life, this area of my life. You know exactly what Jesus in me is working for your glory and his kingdom; how he is building his kingdom through this very weakness, desire, opportunity. My daily work and situation is part of this; it is not foreign to you. Spirit, thank you that you are and you will form these desires in my heart. You will show me how to carry out Jesus’s work today.
