The Earth Rejoices He is Risen!

This morning I had a beautiful prayer time with a prayer council. We were begging God for his purifying work to uphold HIS NAME for HIS GLORY in his church. I kept thinking of this verse:

"Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you!...For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down and the mountains trembled before you" (Is. 64:1-3).

The rest of the verses are awesome too. But I loved this--Isaiah is crying out, "Lord! I have seen you act before. I didn't expect you to show up, but you did, and the very mountains trembled!!! Come down and do it again! Rend the heavens and come down! We are waiting on you!"

God did rend the heavens and come down...He rent his heart, his flesh, the curtain...He rent the division that kept us from Him. He came down, and humbled himself to the point of death, even death on a cross. Surely that was what we did not expect. But surely, the mountains trembled to see the Son of God on the cross.

I remember a song (Sandi Patti?) that sings:
Did the grass sing?
Did the earth rejoice to feel you again?
Over and over like a trumpet underground,
Did the earth seem to pound he is risen;
Over and over in a never ending round,
HE IS RISEN! Hallelujah, hallelujah!

God is working! And we are expecting him to come back, and may we be ready. May we humble ourselves before him and let him purify us, may we fall prostrate before this God of love, so that he can come among us! May He rend the heavens and come down again, and this time every knee will bow and every tongue confess!
